CMO Thoubal chairs meet on rising Covid cases

Thoubal, January 12 2022:
Chief medical officer, Thoubal Dr Y Nokul on Wednesday chaired a meeting at CMO, Thoubal conference hall to deliberate on rising Covid-19 cases in the district.
The meet raised concerns over steep increase in the number of positive cases in district where the caseload reach 39 persons as on Tuesday days after the district had zero active cases.
It also discussed reopening of Covid Care Centres and quarantine centres of the district with the approval of the government.
The meeting was also attended by District Hospital medical superintendent Dr Ch Memcha, district surveillance officer Dr Kh Trusty, district contact tracing nodal officer Dr L Joykumar and other doctors.
Speaking to the media at his office after the meeting, CMO Dr Nokul informed that preparations have been made for reopening of Covid Care Centre at Wangjing Kodompokpi Sports Complex in view of rising Covid-19 cases in the district.
He appealed to the public to adhere to Covid-19 SOPs, wear face masks properly and maintain social distancing as well as avoid crowded places as precautionary measures against the contagious disease.
The CMO further informed that under the Covid vaccination programme in the district, so far 1,49,797 people have received the first dose of Covid vaccine while another 1,01,347 people have been given the second dose.
From January 3 onwards, vaccination of children in the age group of 15-18 years has also started with 840 getting the vaccine till Tuesday.
The district has also launched administration of precautionary dose from January 10 and so far 53 people have been vaccinated.
He also appealed to all the eligible persons to get vaccinated without further delay.
