Imphal, January 12 2022:
Chief Minister N Biren Singh has categorically stated that the people of the country must collectively condemn the obstruction caused to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's convoy in Punjab recently as the conduct was against the Constitutional provision to maintain Centre-State relations.
Speaking to media persons this evening, N Biren Singh continued that the incident was not a coincidence but a plot as per a sting operation conducted by one TV Channel.
He said that the non attendance of Punjab's Chief Secretary and the DGP to welcome the Prime Minister at the airport is very unfortunate as the schedule of the latter's visit was fixed in advance.
Saying that the Prime Minister's convoy was made to proceed by road on the ground of bad weather conditions instead of in a helicopter, the Chief Minister claimed that the conspiracy hatched to obstruct the Prime Minister's movement and those who directed the people to agitate have been revealed by the sting operation.
Attempt to halt the movement of the Prime Minister in a place which shares a border with Pakistan is condemnable in the strongest term, N Biren said and added that the top officials there not taking up any action to avert the predicament validates that it was an attempt on the life of the Prime Minister.
N Biren demanded the high command of Congress at New Delhi to clarify on the security breach in Punjab at the earliest as the State is being run by the grand old party.
As per the finding of the sting operation, no measures were also taken up to ensure safe travel of the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister claimed and said that there is a clue that agitators were carrying out the task under the influence of alcohol as some liquor stores operate just beneath the flyover where the Prime Minister was stuck.
