National Youth Day observed

The 159th National Youth Day was observed at Bal Vidya Mandir, Palace Compound today jointly organised by Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Imphal Branch and Vidya Bharati, Shiksha Vikash Samiti, Manipur.
In today's observation, the significant contributions of Swami Vivekananda (born on January 12, 1863) was recalled and he was remembered as a great thinker, philosopher and social reformer.
Acknowledging his teachings and his guidance rendered to the youths thereby leading them to the right path, the Indian Government observed the National Youth Day on January 12, 1984 for the first time to mark his birth anniversary.
The event was graced by Swami Nareshanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Society Manipur, Thokchom Shivadatta Singh, former MCS and Vivekananda awardee and S Rajen Singh, RSS as the presidium members.

Addressing the gathering, Th Shivadatta Singh spoke about the life history of Swami Vivekananda and said that his ideals and teachings are still relevant even today.
He also encouraged the youths to be courageous enough to follow the right path.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sagolsem Kulachandra Singh, chairman of the organising committee stressed on the importance of the role of youths in a society and appealed to the youths to follow the footsteps of Swami Vivekananda for a progressive society.
Celin Digital also observed National Youth Day today at the Mini Studio, Celin Digital, Keishamthong.
As per a statement, the event was attended by Phanjoubam Lanajit Singh, National Awardee, Ksh Memtombi Devi, State Awardee as chief guest and president respectively.
Ph Lanajit informed that the Govt of India had declared the birth day of Swami Vivekananda as National Youth Day in 1984 and from 1985 onwards January 12 was celebrated as National Youth Day.
Further he stated that youths have a big responsibility in the development of a nation and as such, youths of the present day should work hard and be loyal to their motherland.
