Imphal, January 12 2022:
Chief minister N Biren has categorically denied reports of the government violation the election code of conduct.
Responding to a query during a media briefing at his official residence on Wednesday wherein he held the government of Punjab accountable for breach of security during PM Modi's recent visit, CM Biren denied reports that the government issued backdated orders on transfer and posting, and appointment, if any, after enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct in the state.
The CM clarified that all the orders have been issued based on the cabinet decision taken before the enforcement of MCC and there has been no backdated order.
The present government has not violated the MCC, he further stressed.
While alleging that blocking of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's convoy and breach of security during his visit to Punjab was a conspiracy by the Congress government of Punjab, chief minister N Biren Singh said that such incident must be strongly condemned by the people of Manipur and the nation.
CM N Biren contended that the absence of chief minister, minister, chief secretary or DG for welcoming the Prime Minister at the airport during his visit to the state is not just violation of protocols but also an insult to the people of the country.
Claiming that a leading national TV news channel in its report has revealed that the incident of January 5 was planned, Biren asserted that any threat to the nation's Prime Minister cannot be accepted by the BJP as well as by the citizens of the country.
N Biren continued that stopping of PM's convoy on an over-bridge for 20 minutes and not making any attempt to vacate the route by police needs to be taken as an insult and threat to the Prime Minister.
The incident did not happen randomly but was a well-planned conspiracy.
High command of the Congress must clarify on the matter to the people of the nation.
The incident is very shameful for the Congress party and its government in Punjab, he further lambasted.
Meanwhile, condemning the alleged security lapse during PM Modi's visit to Punjab on January 5, BJP OBC Morcha Oinam Mandal staged a silent protest at its office premises located at Keinou Thongkha on Wednesday.
The protest was attended by OBC Oinam Mandal president S Chittaranjan Singh, BJP Oinam Mandal president Th Mangi Singh, secretary (organisation) Kh Brojen Singh, secretary (administration) L Ibomcha Singh, Mahila Morcha president L Sunitibala Devi and BJP Kishan Morcha state secretary Ch Ibohal Singh among others.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, S Chittaranjan termed as anti-national the conduct of Punjab government during visit of the Prime Minister.
The Punjab government should apologise to the Prime Minister or else President's Rule should be imposed, he added.
