Imphal, September 06, 2013:
As of now, the number of candidates who have come forward to compete in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, both from the Inner and Outer Parliamentary Constituency of the State has reached eight.
The Lok Sabha election is scheduled to be held next year.
Sitting Lok Sabha MPs Dr Th Meinya and Thangso Baite are to compete for the Inner and the Outer seats respectively from the side of Congress party.
For Trinamool Congress, President of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress and former MP Kim Gangte will compete for the Outer seat while Manaobi Khoirenthaba, CO of 7 MR for the Inner Parliamentary seat.
For BJP, the party has even started campaigning for Prof Gangmumei Kamei who will be its candidate for the Outer seat.
However, the party has not been able to decide on who should be fielded for the seat of Inner Parliamentary constituency.
CPI has also started campaigning for Dr M Nara as its candidate for the Inner seat.
Though JD (U) and the CPI (M) have not taken any solid stand, NCP has decided to field ex-Minister C Doungel as its candidate from the outer Parliamentary constituency.
Meanwhile, in spite of their common mission of defeating the Congress party, the issue of common candidates' of the non-Congress political parties is becoming a distant dream with each passing day with most of them not able to see eye to eye over selection of consensus candidates to take on the Congress party.
Although Naga People's Party has made its stand clear on favouring non-Congress party candidates, MSCP is still not clear on whom to support in the Lok Sabha elections.
