Manipur Pavilion drawing huge crowd at IITF

Manipur Pavilion at Indian International Trade Fair (IITF) 2014 at Pragati Maidan here are showcasing the State's typical handloom and handicrafts products produced by the co-operative societies and individual entrepreneurs representing two hill districts namely Ukhrul and Senapati and four valley districts namely Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishnupur of Manipur.
Three hill districts namely, Tamenglong, Chandel and Churachandpur are not represented at the Trade Fair this year as the State Department of Commerce and Industry did not find any interested Societies or individuals from the districts to participate in the grand international event.
Manipur Pavilion in the ongoing India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan here are drawing the attention of the visitors for its unique Manipuri handloom and handicrafts items.
Twenty seven Co-operative Societies and individuals from different parts of Manipur are taking part in the two-week long International Trade Fair organized by the India Trade Promotion Organisation commencing from November 14 as usual.

Ukhrul District Handloom and Handicrafts Co-operative Federation, Phungreitang and Amachi Handloom and Handicrfts Co-op Society, Khaiyaishat from Ukhrul district are showcasing handloom and handicraft products of Tangkhul community while Handicrafts and Food Products Unit, T Khullen is the lone participant from Senapati dealing in handloom and dry foods.
The 10 participants from Imphal East District were A Lukhoi H/L and H/C Co-op Society, Kongba Makha Nandeibam Leikai; Lamjing Thawan Association, Brahmapur Nahabam; New Checkon Ema Lairembi H/L and H/C Co-op Society,New Checkon; Heingang Panthoibi H/L and H/C Co-op Society, Heingang; Wash Group Industry, Koirengei Uram Thongkhong; BK Flute Industry, Brahmapur Nahabam; Lanchenbi Weavers Co-op Society, Bashikhong; Social Communities Women Welfare Association, Bashikhong Wangkhei Loumanbi; Lairik-yengbam Leikai H/L and H/C Co-op Society, Lairikyengbam Mayai Leikai and Heikakmapal Multipurpose Co-op Society, Keibi Heikakmapal Awang Leikai.
Nine participants from Imphal West District are Pioneer Women's Welfare Association, Keishamthong Laisom Leirak; Kali Women's Development Welfare Association, Yaiskul Police Lane; Blooming Dale, Neikailong, Thangmeiband; Chaminashi Food Processing, Singjamei Thongam Leikai; ETA Centre, Langthabal Kunja Awang Leikai; Sega Road Maning Takhel Leikai Khadi and Village Industries Association, Sega Road Takyel Leikai; Irom Meijrao Women Weavers Co-op Society; Oriental Women Welfare Association, Uripok Tourangbam Leikai and Dolls and Toys Making Industries, Chingamakha.
Sendra Road Women H/L and H/C Co-op Society, Moirang Sendra and Nupi Sintha H/L and H/C Co-op Society, Thinungei Makha Leikai are representing Bishnupur district in the International Trade Fair.
Three participants from Thoubal District are Mukta Knitted Shoes, Kakching Moirangthem Leikai; Kakching Khunou H/L and H/C Co-op Society, Kakching Khunou and Moirangthem Pushparani Devi, Wangoo Mayai Leikai.
Apart from the private participants, the products of three Government organizations namely Sericulture Department, Manipur Development Society and Manipur Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation are also displayed in the Manipur Pavilion.
Rhythmic and colourful dances from hills and valley of Manipur coupled with a fashion show on Manipuri fabrics at Lal Chowk Theatre, Pragati Maidan in the evening of November 24 this year on the occasion of Manipur Day Celebration are set to enthral a large crowd.
Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and Commerce and Industry Minister Govindas Konthoujam will be the chief guest and president respectively on the occasion.
