JAC meets CM, stir to go on

A JAC formed in connection with the death of a rape victim Bidyarani met Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai today.
However, despite the Chief Minister's assurance to punish the accused Sureshkumar, the JAC made it clear that it will continue to stage demonstrations.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, JAC chairman H Dijen said, "Chief Minister assured of rewarding fitting punishment to the accused.
However, the JAC has decided to continue with our protest unless the State Government put their assurance into action.
We would like to appeal the students' organisations, women's organisations and all the civil organisations to extend assistance" .
It may be recalled that following his apprehension, the accused Sureshkumar confessed to the crime before the Chief Judicial Court Thoubal on November 11.He would be presented before the Court again tomorrow .
