Truck driver abducted for ransom

Imphal, November 16 2014 :
A driver of a truck load with steel heading towards Imphal from Guwahati was reportedly abducted by suspected cadres of NSCN (K) from Ghaspani, Nagaland on November 13 around 9 pm.
Subsequent upon the abduction, the outfit served a monetary demand of Rs 15 lakh to owner of the truck.
The driver of the truck has been identified as Laishram Inao of Khonghampat Awang Leikai under Sekmai Police Station in Imphal West.
Owner of the truck who stays in Guwahati has been identified as Deepak.
Steel brought by the truck was to be delivered to DK Steel Store at Thangal Bazar MG Avenue.
The truck has been seized by Ghaspani police after it was found abandoned by suspected cadres at the area from where the driver was abducted.
It may be mentioned here that two truck drivers were abducted by cadres of NSCN (IM) in connection with a monetary demand from Piphema in Nagaland on July 25 last when they were coming in a truck loaded with goods heading towards Imphal from Guwahati.
Later, they were released after ten days in captivity.
