Imphal, September 07 2011:
All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has banned the election to the students' union of DM College Teachers' Education (DMCTE) schedule to be held tomorrow.
Announcing this during a press conference at its headquarters here today, general secretary of AMSU Dipanjit Ningthoujam explained that the decision to ban the election has been adopted as the by-laws as well as the rules and regulations of the election have not yet been made known to the candidates.
The by-laws and the rules and the regulation of the elections, which the college authority claimed to have been finalised by December, 2010, should have been made to the candidates before filing of the nomination papers, Dipanjit pointed out.
Moreover, the electoral list has not been issued to the candidates as issuing of I-cards to the students has not been completed so far.
So, without the electoral list, how the election is supposed to be conducted ?, he questioned, and alleged that notification of the election had also not been announced through media by the college authority.
The student leader further alleged that the principal of the college is planning to putting up some individuals to contest in the election who would act in accordance to his whims and fancy.
