Monitoring Committee on NH 37 submits its report

Imphal, September 07 2011:
The Monitoring Committee on NH 37 today submitted its report to the Division Bench of Justice Tayenjam Nandakumar and Justice Mutum Binoykumar.
a division bench of Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench directed the state government on August 2 to submit a report on the present condition of the NH 37 following a PIL which prayed the court to look into the pitiable condition of the NH.
After studying the report, the court ordered that the report be made available to the concerned parties within two weeks and to submit an affidavit to the court if any party wants to say something for or against the report.
Further hearing of the PIL will be held on September 19 .
It may be mentioned that the court ordered the constitution of an Independent Monitoring Committee to assess the situation of the highway following a PIL filed by H Kullamani and another person with Senior Advocate HNK as their counsel.
The petitioners prayed the court to direct the CBI to investigate the working of BRTF in handling the highway and its development expressing suspicion of manhandling a large amount meant for the development and maintenance of the highway.
