History written at different points of time by different scholars has many factual errors.
These errors resulted from dependence on oral sources rather than relying on the established sources available at the Manipur State Archives.
Dr RK Nimai said that due to reliance on primary sources by the historians, people have been fed with erroneous information.
Moreover, the State lacks proper administrative information compiled through scientific studies due to the negligence of the department concerned in preserving the records.
Dr Nimai then urged the public to collectively contribute in preserving the records available in the State Archives.
Addressing the gathering, resource persons called for better accessibility for the scholars and appealed to donate relevant books to the State Archives.
A week-long observation will be attended by students and around 53 research scholars from other States.
