Security forces nab 12 UGs in State

Continuing with the drive to create a conducive environment for the upcoming elections in the State, 27 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of the Red Shield Division apprehended 11 UG cadres and their sympathizers from Churachandpur district area, said a PIB (DW) release.
The release said, 38 Assam Rifles of the Red Shield Division nabbed two HPC (D) cadres namely SS Capt Oliver and SS Pvt John for intimidating general public alongwith their two sympathizers namely Shalom Thar and Longasong from Parbung area.
The sympathizers were involved in providing logistic support and shelter to HPC (D) cadres.
In other operations, troops of 46 Assam Rifles apprehended seven cadres of various groups from Tuibong area.
Two PLA cadres namely Dinesh Singh s/o Kulla Singh of Tuibong and M Tomba Singh s/o (Late) M Jatish, three PREPAK cadres namely W Sanatomba Meitei s/o Kulla Meitei of Thingkanphai, Dalip Leitongbam s/o (Late) G Gjalamjat and Ibomcha alias Mairamjam s/o M Mani Chand of Sialmat.
two UNLF cadres were also apprehended from the said area namely S Romeo Singh s/o Ibotombi of Old Bazar Mantop Leikai and L Nimaichand Singh s/o (Late) Brija Mohan Singh of Tuibong.
All the apprehended cadres were handed over to Imphal West Police Station, the release added.
Meanwhile, working on specific information of extortion being carried out by KNF (P) cadres in general area T/Waichong, 10 DOGRA Regiment of the Red Shield Division apprehended two cadres of KNF (P) on January 26. The arrested persons namely SS Pvt Jangminlal Kipgen s/o Seipinmang of Sonjang and Lalgou Doungel s/o Paothong Doungel of Dengel, Senapati have been handed over to Senapati police station, according to a PIB (DW) release.
In an unrelated incident, following an operationTroops of 31 AR of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (S) apprehended one PREPAK cadre from a Maruti Van (bearing registration No AS 01X 6299) on January 25 at Khudengthabi.
The UGhas been identified as Khurshid Ahmed (37) son of (L) Abdul Cani of Lilong.
16 Hand Grenade Frag Delay M-67 was recovered from him.
He was handed over to the IW Police Station, a PRO IGAR (S) release claimed.
Meanwhile, a combined team of Bishnupur commandos and troops of 6/8 GR assisted by Women Police arrested two KCP women cadres today around 3.30pm from Bishnupur Ward No 9 .
