Abducted man rescued

A salesman cum butcher of a chicken centre/shop has been rescued by a combined team of 26 Assam Rifles and Churachandpur district police this evening.
According to police source, unknown armed persons suspected to be KNF (S) activists abducted the butcher identified as Phurailatpam Ibungojaoba Sharma (41) of Churachandpur Khumujamba Meitei Leikai from a Lamka Town area at around 7.30 pm yesterday.
It is said that Ibungojaoba was returning home on a Honda Activa scooter when three persons, who came in a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle, waylaid and took him in their custody along with the scooter.
The police source also maintained that owner of the chicken centre namely Hemam Imocha is from Khumujamba Meitei Leikai.
Imocha reportedly recieved a demand letter of KNF (S) for an amount of Rs 1 lakh, which was not complied with.
Launching the search operation, the combined team managed to rescue Ibungojaoba from a Bollen village area of Churachandpur district at around 5.30 pm today.
