Imphal, December 14 2013 :
Contrary to allegation by one L Rewankumar, who claimed to be Agricultural Labours Union Manipur joint secretary, that a police sub-inspector forcibly took Rs 40,000 on concocted charges, Rewankumar's contractor-colleague namely Chungkham Motilal (48) contended that it was Rewankumar who actually took Rs 2 lakh for obtaining the Chief Minister's signature in connection with withdrawal of pending contract bill.
Speaking to newspersons at his Nongmeibung Pung Makhong residence today, contractor Motilal dismissing accusation against the SI (published in dailies today) said that Rewankumar asked one Athokpam Premjit of Khongman to get Rs 3 lakhs from him (Motilal) to 'process' for the CM's nod on the pending bill payment.
With the amount negotiated to Rs 2 lakh, Premjit handed the same to Rewankumar, he said confirming that the EO letter as well as the CM's signature on it was found to be fake/forged.
Further stating that on December 9 he complied with the directive to be present at Imphal West police station in connection with the forged signature case, Motilal said with the exception of the police insisting that whereabouts of Rewankumar be revealed there was no use of abuse of physical action by the police.
He further clarified that MANIDCO EE Kameshore has nothing to do on the matter.
