Imphal, December 14 2013 :
After a strong reaction from certain organisations here, Committee on Human Rights, Manipur (COHR ) today expressed unhappiness over the recent remarks of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) national executive member Arun Kumar who had urged the Government not to repeal AFSPA from Manipur and Jammu & Kashmir for fear that the militancy in the two states is not completely wiped out.
COHR in a statement at the same time called upon the people of Manipur to condemn the statement by the RSS leader for his incitement for ceaseless imposition of the controversial Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 in the two states without having the historical facts on the past sovereignties of various ethnic groups in the Indian sub-continent.
The statement of the RSS leader was nothing other than a political gimmick or vote bank politics which will undermine the anti-AFSPA crusade launched by many human rights and social organisations which have been tirelessly working hard to safeguard human rights.
It alleged that the Sangh Parivaar has shown it also has the real motive to subjugate the people by tagging them as "terrorists".
However the RSS does not know exactly who the real terrorists are in the country.
In an apparent attack on the Sangh Parivaar, COHR further said there is no place for fundamentalist and fascist in today's world.
It added that the prevailing conflict situation in the state of Manipur is nothing less than a 'political problem' that can be ended with a political solution.
Many Indian Army top officers and eminent international figures have had admitted time and again that military prowess can never solve this problem in any way, it added.
The statement by RSS leader Kumar has also clearly indicated that Manipuris are not real citizens of India because its allegory intends to label the people as militants which must be condemned by all, it added.
