Chandel village chiefs reiterate stand on MG-NREGS

The Village Chiefs and Chairman under Tengnoupal Block of Chandel District strongly opposed the State Government's Policy to implement MG-NREGS through Manipur State Rural Development Agency (MSRDA) and condemned the failure of releasing 20 days' wages and material components under MG-NREGS for the last financial year 2012-13 .
According to a statement issued and signed by Tm.
Holkhokhai Haokip, President and Sk.
Angshel Lamkang, General Secretary of Village Chiefs and Chairman Association, Tengnoupal Block, the decision to oppose the State Government's Policy to implement MG-NREGS through MSRDA was taken in a general body meeting held yesterday at H.Wajang Village.
During the meeting, the Village Chiefs and Chairman also resolved to accept the 14 days' wages and components under MG-NREGS 2013-14 in view of the forthcoming Christmas Festival in spite of its earlier demand to release 50 days' wages before Christmas.
The Association also condemned the State Government for not releasing the remaining 20 days' wages and Material components under MG-NREGS for the financial year 2012-13 and appealed to the concerned authority to release the pending wages within the current month (December 2013) itself.
Furthermore, the Association warned of launching a series of agitations including imposition of indefinite bandh along the national highways if the concerned authority fails to consider their demands.
