Test signal of Impact TV from mid Jan

Impact Cable TV Network has announced that it will start broadcasting test signal from mid January next year.
Speaking to reporters at Imphal Hotel, Director Coordination of the network, Y Rupachandra said that the objective of launching of the cable TV network is to give a new zest to electronic media in the State.
Owned by the Impact Medianet and Communication (P) Ltd, the network would give emphasis to sports, agriculture, culture, education, media, flagship news programmes, Rupachandra said.
Informing that installation of equipment and infrastructure is currently in full swing, Rupachandra said that the network is planning to broadcast test signals from mid January.
With the compulsory digitization of the cable TV signals and notification of Digital Addressable System (DAS) across the Nation beginning October 31, 2012, a new dawn has come in the field of cable TV networking, Rupachandra said.
He added that Conditional Access System (CAS) would become mandatory for cable TV connection including Imphal by the end of September 2014 .
In short, as per TRAI guidelines, viewers would be able to choose a pack of channels of their choice and pay for the channels they watch from November 2014, he added.
The guideline would also require every consumer be counted and every TV sets require a Set Top Box for cable TV connection, Rupachandra said.
According to 2011 Census, Imphal West and Imphal East together have 1.34 lakh households which own TV sets, Rupachandra said that the number is likely to increase to 2 lakh TV sets in 2013, he added.
Saying that unlike analog cable TV connection, digitised connection needs STB for every TV set, Rupachandra said that Impact TV would also be broadcast on digitised mode.
He added that the network would not only broadcast local and news channels but also other channels.
