Imphal, October 05 2014 :
The 282nd Puya Mei Thaba day would be commemorated as 'historical black day' on October 10 (the 19th day of Mera month in the Manipuri calendar), Friday with a mass procession at Imphal THAU Ground, ACOAM Lup, Kangleipak president Ksh Somorendro informed during a press conference held at its office premises today.
Speaking at the occasion, Ksh Somorendro said the developed countries all over the globe pride over having long recorded history of their ancestors.
Manipur, also known as Kangleipak, too had its own written historical records or Puya to its credit.
Unfortunately, however, during the reign of King Pamheiba, the Puya was set on fire on the 19th day of Mera.
Since then, the religious set up of the State has undergone a tremendous change.
Even the integrity between the hill and valley people became fragmented after the incident, Somorendro said.
Acoam Lup's president has further called for mass participation in the 282nd Puya Mei Thaba Memorial event with an appeal to abstain organising any form of entertainment event that day.
