Kuki National Front (KNF) has celebrated its 18th Rising Day to mark its 18 years of struggle at various places on My 18, informed secretary of department of information and publicity of the proscribed outfit LH Stephen in a delayed statement made available to the press today.
At the General Headquarters of the outfit, the celebration was led by its president while at the Command Headquarters, the home secretary led the programme, the statement said, while recalling that KNF was founded 18 years ago on May 18 by Pu (late) Nehlun Kipgen and other prominent Kuki leaders of the time.
The main events of the celebration was hoisting of Front�s flag, singing of Front�s anthem, a minute silence in remembrance and respect of fallen comrades and various form of entertainment programmes, the statement said.
Giving the key note address, the president gave a brief history of the formation of the Front, its cause and aspiration, the statement said, adding that the president also listed various achievements and future programmes of the struggle.
The president further spoke on how disunity and strives have weaken the society while stressing on the need for peace and unity among the people, LH Stephen informed in the statement.
The statement further informed that the president also gave a passionate plea to all the revolutionary groups and factions of the Kuki society to work in unity and welcome all like-minded and patriotic individuals, groups and factions to share the burden of the struggle collectively.
