More condemn assault on DESAM leaders

Denouncing the assault of six volunteers of DESAM, including its president Moirangthem Angamba by personnel of Singjamei PS, the Kanglei Salai Apunba Lup has demanded befitting punishment of the police personnel.
In a statement, KSAL alleged that the six DESAM volunteers were severely assaulted by personnel of Singjamei PS after they were picked up from DESAM headoffice in connection with the clash between two groups of students at MU on October 29.Stating that the arrested student leaders were later released without any condition/charge, the Lup questioned why the students were beaten up severely if they did not commit any offence.
It further demanded the OC of the PS give a detailed clarification to the public at the earliest.
Meanwhile, Churachand Higher Secondary School, Students' Union, Wabagai High School Students' Union, Biramangol College Students' Union and the Students' Union, of Wangoi Higher Secondary School have also strongly condemned the assault of the DESAM volunteers.
The student bodies warned that they will initiate strong agitation if the authorities fail to take up befitting action against the erring police personnel at the earliest.
