New JE case detected

A new case of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) has been detected at Saiton Awang Leikai under Moirang sub-division of Bishnupur district.
The 40 year old man who was infected by JE was first taken to Churachandpur District Hospital on November 1 as he became very weak.
He was referred to JNIMS on the same day.
Doctors at JNIMS told the patient party that the patient needed to be admitted in ICU but there was no empty bed in JNIMS' ICU.
Subsequently, the patient was taken to Raj Medicity.
As doctors at Raj Medicity suspected either Dengue or JE, his blood sample was sent to JNIMS Hospital laboratory yesterday.
After laboratory test, it was confirmed today that the man was infected by JE.
Subsequently, Raj Medicity has started giving JE treatment to the patient.
The patient is a carpenter by profession and he went to Churachandpur a month back to procure timbers but he did not halt the night there.
Meanwhile, the State Malaria Officer has informed the District Malaria Officer to take necessary precautionary measures like fogging exercise at the residential area of the patient.
