Chopper service to see light of day soon

Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati has announced that passenger helicopter service would be launched soon in the State.
Speaking at a public meeting held at Ima Laikhurembi complex under the aegis of BJP Khurai Mandal today, the Union Civil Aviation Minister stated that introduction of helicopter service can considerably address transport bottlenecks and other communication difficulties generally associated with the State's hilly terrain.
Helicopter service can also make health care services more accessible and promote tourism industry.
In view of the State's hilly terrain and insufficient surface transport infrastructure, it is crucial to enhance air connectivity, Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati asserted.
Raising the number of passenger aeroplanes and cargo planes to and from Imphal can be a big boost to the State's connectivity with other parts of the country and abroad, he said.
He further announced that the State would have a new air terminal in the next three years.
Inconveniences faced by air passengers at Imphal airport due to non-functional X-Ray machine would be addressed shortly by providing a new X-Ray machine, he added.
