P Nilakanta has rebuffed allegations levelled against him by L Ibomcha

Reacting to a news report published in this daily on January 25, Potshangbam Nilakanta has rebuffed the allegations levelled against him by L Ibomcha, NCP candidate in Keishamthong A/C. It may be mentioned that L Ibomcha had accused P Nilakanta and his two brothers - Tarun and Maniratan, who are police commando Sub-Inspectors, of thrashing political workers of L Ibomcha in the night of January 11 at Haobam Marak Ngangom Leikai.
Nilakanta said that neither the incident as mentioned by Ibomcha happened at the locality nor he and his two brothers were involved in any such incidents.
Meanwhile, Haobam Marak Social Union Club has clarified that Potshangbam Nilakanta was not invloved in any such incidents.
It said that the allegations levelled against P Nilakanta were baseless and unfounded.
A press release issued by the president of the club said, on the night of January 11, locals of Haobam Marak Ngangom Leikai saw L Ibomcha and his political workers were frisked by a commando team.
However, the commandos allowed them to proceed as the team was led by the candidate himself, it said and added that local people did not see any harrasment meted out to them.
The press release further clarified that P Nilakanta never distributed money on gun point at the locality.
