AMAWOVA celebrates 32nd Foundation Day

All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) on Sunday celebrated its 32nd Foundation Day at Maharaja Chandrakirti Auditorium in Palace Compound, Imphal.
The event was attended by Thambal Marik College president, Dr Th Binarani, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur president, L Memchoubi and AMAWOVA president, Y Kunjarani as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, AMAWOVA general secretary, Ksh Sujata highlighted the contributions made by the women folk in the socio-economic and political movements of the State over the years and stated that the sacrifices made by manipuri women in 'Nupilal' and in the struggle against AFSPA would be remembered for ages.

Y Kunjarani stated that since the inception of AMAWOVA, many Units of the association have been established to facilitate and uplift the socio-economic condition of deprived children and women in various parts of the State.
Manipur cannot progress without first improving the socio-economic condition of women.
Therefore, it is essential to work towards an egalitarian society where the women section is given equal opportunities, she added.
Y Kunjarani also expressed her concern over rate of domestic violence, child abuse while adding that AMAWOVA has been working for years against such abuse and assured to continue their stuggle in the future.
L Memchoubi lauded the courage and contributions made by Manipuri women over the years in various social and political issues including the fight against drugs and stressed on the need to encourage and acknowledge their sacrifices.
