Oldest Church in Kangpokpi celebrates platinum jubilee with zeal and fervour

Commemorating its 70 years of Gospel service, Kangpokpi Independent Baptist Church, formerly known as Kangpokpi Baptist Church, the oldest Church in Kangpokpi DHQs celebrated Platinum Jubilee here at the Church campus.
Rejoicing the historic God's faithfulness upon the Church, hundreds of Christian across the district and member of KIBC congregated to glorify the Almighty and celebrated the Platinum Jubilee under the "To God be the glory, forever and ever".
The Platinum Jubilee celebration which has begun since yesterday was attended by Rev HM Songate as main speaker of the Platinum Jubilee celebration while Licentiate Pastor Jason G Momin attended the celebration function as Minister.
Organized under a strong 31 member team of Platinum Jubilee Celebration Core Committee headed by Ordained Deacon Lunkholet Singsit as Chairman and Haokholen Guite as Secretary, the KIBC Platinum Jubilee was also attended by various other church leaders, Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship leaders, local civil bodies, etc.
Licentiate Pastor Jason G Momin unfurled the Jubilee flag and released the Platinum Jubilee balloon followed by a sounding of Jubilee Gong and Trumpet before unveiling the Platinum Jubilee monolith in the presence of the Jubilee main speaker and other dignitaries in tune with the impressive Jubilee song on the part of the Jubilee Choir.
The Platinum Jubilee Sub Committee (Souvenir) headed by Mangcha Thanga as Chairman and Satkholen Khongsai as Secretary-cum-Editor with five other members including Lic Pr Jason G Momin, Rev Siehpao Hangshing, Paominthang Doungel, Limminthang Haokip and Nehgoulen Lhouvum also published a souvenir containing greetings, Church history, various interesting and motivational Gospel articles, Church workers lists and nostalgic old photo gallery to commemorate the jubilee.
The Platinum Jubilee Souvenir was dedicated by the main speaker of the event Rev HM Songate after he formally released the Souvenir in the main celebration programme held inside the Church in the presence of thousands of jubilee goers.
Addressing media persons on the sideline of the celebration, Jubilee Souvenir Committee Secretary-cum-Editor, Satkholen Khongsai said that Christianity has been introduced as early as 1919-1920 in the century's old Kangpokpi town with the arrival of American Baptist Missionary Rev William Pettigrew and Dr GG Grozier.
He continued that Christianity gained its shape in size and length among the dwellers of Kangpokpi town and the first Christmas was recorded to have celebrated in the year 1926 but the exact record of the establishment of the first Church, i.e.Kangpokpi Baptist Church, which was later came to be known as Kangpokpi Independent Baptist Church could not be ascertained since there is no proper maintenance of record during that time.
However, the establishment of Kangpokpi Baptist Church, now, Kangpokpi Independent Baptist Church was counted from 1948 based on one of the oldest handwritten record found back in 1948 which has recorded the resolutions of the Church assembly, he added.
Presentations, appreciations, gratitude upon the missionaries, Pastor and upon various department of the Church with words of God from the main speaker were the main highlights of the event while a grand jubilee feast marked the occasion.
