Imams declare Black Day

All India Imams Council Manipur State said today, December 6 is a 'Black Day', the day some religious fanatics destroyed the Babri Masjid used by Muslims for more than 460 years for prayers, in 1992 .
A Mosque was built under the patronage of Emperor Jalal-ud-din Babur at Oudh (present day Ayodhya) and was named 'Babri Masjid' in honour of its patron.
In 1884, Lord Dufrin 'coerced' a Budhist Monk to write that the site of Babri Masjid was the birth place of Lord Ram, an attempt by the British agents to break the bond of unity between the Hindu and Muslim was made, it alleged.
The British succeeded in sowing the seed of animosity between the two communities and a petition was filed in 1885 by, some Hindus seeking Court permission to allow building of Ram Mandir at the site of Babri Masjid.
The petition was however rejected, said a statement released by the Council.
The Council added, after the foundation of RSS in 1925, the issue of Babri Masjid (Ram Janam Bhumi became a National issue, a statue of Ram was installed inside the Masjid on the night of December 22, 1949 and finally on December 6, 1992, Babri Masjid was destroyed.
Lucknow High Court bifurcated the Babri Masjid site into two parts in 2010, however, a final ruling by Supreme Court on November 9, 2019 .
gave the whole site to Ram Mandir and every person involved in Babri Masjid destruction were acquitted of the charge, added the statement.
The council also expressed gratitude to millions of people who worked towards establishing harmony and peace amongst all communities in the aftermath of the November 9 judgement.
