Undeterred even by the arrival of the Rapid Action Police Force personnel and continuing indefinite curfew in the State, sit in protest and rallies continued unabated in different parts of the State today as a mark of protest against the custodial death of Thangjam Manorama.
Police had to use force by firing tear gas shells to a group of women folks who had gathered at the Leishangkhong Community hall for staging a sit in protest this morning at around 11.However no one was injured during the firing.
Volunteers of Unal Nupi Marup Uripok Ningthou-khongjam and Ahanthem Leikai Nupi Marup also organized a sit in protest at Uripok today denouncing the brutal murder of Th Manorama.
Mention may be made here that Manorama was shot dead by personnel of 17 Assam Rifles after picking her up from her residence at Bamon Kampu on the intervening night of July 10 and 11.Her body was later dumped at.

Denouncing the cold blooded murder of Th Manorama, United Club Organization Leimapokpam organized a public rally from Leimapokpam to Chngphu Bazar this evening at around 7.A total of about 1000 people participated at the rally.
Torch rally participated by about seven thousand people was also carried out from Langmeidong to Aihang at around 8.30 pm as a mark of protest against the brutal killing of Manorama.
People of Langmeidong, Thounaojam Yangdong, Elangkhongpokpi, Thongjao Aihang, Waikhong Laimanai and Lamjao areas participated at the said rally.
Meira Paibis of Yaingangppkpi and Kangla area also staged a torch rally at the Sawombung area late in the evening flaying the inhuman act of the Assam Rifles.
Torch rallies were also reportedly held at Wangoo, Pangaltabi, Kakching Khunou, Waikhong, Thongju, Elangkhongpokpi, Thounaojam Yangdong, Langmeidong, Laimanai, Lamjao, Tejpur, Keirak, Wabagai, Hiyanglam, Sekmaijin, Laphupat Tera, Arong, Nongmaikhortg, Kakching, Irengbam, Tekcham, Khongjom, Lamboikhul Taretkhul, Keibi, Uyumpok, and CCpur this evening against custodial killing of Manorama.
Condemnations galore: Joint Action Committee Uripok while strongly condemning the cold blooded murder of Thangjam Chanu Manorama by personnel of 17 Assam Rifles has appealed to the authorities concerned to look into the matter and punish the guilty personnel.
It also reaffirmed its support to any agitation taken up by the 33 voluntary organizations spearheading the movement against the killing of Manorama.
