The All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) and the All Naga Students' Association' Manipur (ANSAM) have urged the Manipur Government to make necessary arrangements for rehabilitating the landslide victims of Mao area and Gopibung villagers and the victims of its adjoining areas.
The two student bodies in a joint statement said that altogether 150 residential houses along with two schools had been damaged by the landslides and mudslides in the Gopibung village and its adjoining areas in Senapati district.
The statement made available to Newmai News Network signed by ATSUM general secretary Samson Remei and ANSAM president Paul Langhu said that the two student bodies shared the grievances and difficulties faced by the unfortunate villagers of Gopibung and the adjoining areas.
It urged the authorities concerned to address the plight of the landslides-mudslides victims without further delay or else things may worsen.
The statement further said that the authorities should extend adequate aids and relief materials with seriousness adding that rehabilitation arrangements for the victims should also be done at the earliest.
The two students' bodies also assured to extend all necessary helps to the victims.
