The Editors' Forum, Manipur has strongly condemned the unruly behavior of policemen at the office of Mannaba on July 18 at 1.30 pm and again on July 19 at 7.30 am.
On July 18, a police team came to the office of the said daily and pulled down its shutters while on July 19 at 7.30 am, a team led by an SI came and threatened the Assistant Manager, a Woman, who was distributing the day's edition.
The policemen even threatened to lob a tear gas shell at the office.
On July 18 at about 10 pm, a police team fired a tear gas towards the office of Matamgi Yakairol.
Strongly condemning the unruly behavior of the policemen, the Editors' Forum has appealed to the police to allow the media persons to dispense their duties fearlessly and freely without any unnecessary harassment.
The All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU), during a meeting' held today has also strongly condemned the high handedness and action of the policemen at the office of Mannaba.
