Hill dists go slow on vaccination coverage

Even as the daily count of new cases continues without a break, with 15 more including two security personnel returning positive results in the last 24 hours, Manipur continues to go slow on the vaccination rate with only 56.41 percent of the eligible population having received the first dose and 41.9 percent the second dose.
No deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, with the total number of deaths remaining at 2002 .
Vaccination coverage is low in the hill districts, with Kangpokpi coming way down the chart with only 19.39 percent of the eligible population having received the first dose and 12.9 the second dose.
Ukhrul district does no better with only 24.25 percent of the eligibles having received the first dose and a mere 17.76 percent the second dose.
At Pherzawl it is 33.48 percent for the first dose and 30.9 for the second dose while at Kamjong the statistic reads as 33.53 percent for the first dose and 22.25 percent for the second dose.

Among the hill districts, Chandel is at the top with 66.48 percent having received the first dose and 51.53 the second dose.
Overall, Imphal West leads the table with 73.13 percent of the eligible population having received the first dose and 57.23 the second dose.
Jiribam is a close second with 71.36 pc of the population having received the first dose and 58.21 percent the second dose.
At Imphal East it is 69.84 pc for the first dose and 52.3 for the second dose.
On December 27, the number of vaccine administered is 4886 and the cumulative doses administered is 2301450 including 9,80,793 second dose.
The COVID-19 Common Control Room in its daily update on the pandemic stated that altogether 15 persons including two Central security personnel tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
Their Covid status were confirmed at RIMS (1) and other testing centres (14) .
The 13 civilians who tested positive are from Imphal West (10), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (1) and Chandel (1) .
The 15 positive cases were detected out of a total of 1416 samples tested in the last 24 hours, to take the daily positivity rate to 1.1 percent.
No deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
With 15 more, the cumulative number of positive cases now stands at 1,25,747 including 4,436 Central security personnel.
On the other hand 13 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours from home isolation (4), JNIMS (3) and CCCs (6) .
The total number of recovered cases now stands at 1,23,565 including 4,428 and the recovery rate is 98.26 percent.
The number of active cases is 180 including 3 Central security personnel.
A total of 230 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 26 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres in the State on December 27 .
