TPR Steep spurt continues with 578 cases
11 out of 16 dists record double digit

Imphal, January 21 2022:
Scripting a new high, Manipur recorded 578 new coronavirus cases and 2 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Along with the detection of new cases, 11 out of the 16 districts in the State recorded daily positivity rate in the double digit with Kamjong leading the way with 42.9 percent, Kangpokpi (34.5 percent), Imphal West (28.8 percent), Tengnoupal (27.6 percent), Imphal East (19.6 percent), Bishnupur (18.1 percent), Thoubal (16.7 percent), Churachandpur (16.1 percent), Ukhrul (14.1 percent), Kakching (13 percent) and Tamenglong (10.3 percent) .
The overall daily positivity rate for the whole State is 19.3 percent up from the 15.2 percent reported on January 20 .
In absolute numbers Imphal West leads the table with 331 new cases including Central security personnel, Imphal East (69), Kangpokpi (60), Churachandpur (29), Thoubal (21) and Bishnupur (21) .
The 578 new cases include 7 Central security personnel and their Covid statuses were detected during testing at JNIMS (222) and other testing centres (356) .
The 571 new cases from amongst the civilians are from Imphal East (69), (328), Thoubal (21), Bishnupur (21), Kakching (6), Kamjong (2), Kangpokpi (60), Jiribam (7), Ukhrul (9), Tamenglong (4), Tengnoupal (5), Senapati (3), Chandel (7) and Churachandpur (29) .
All necessary measures including containment and contact tracing are in place, claimed the COVID-19 Common Control Room in a statement.
Two more persons succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours to take the cumulative number of deaths due to Covid to 2019 .
Both of them had co-morbidities and both had taken the first dose of the vaccine.
With the addition of 578 new cases, the cumulative number of positive cases in Manipur has now gone up to 1,29,257 including 4804 Central security personnel.
The number of active cases is now 2860 including 329 Central security personnel.
In the last 24 hours 100 persons were discharged from home isolation (65), RIMS (1), JNIMS (7) and CCCs (27) .
With 100 more discharged the cumulative number of recovered cases is 1,24,378 inclusive of 4469 Central security personnel and the recovery rate now stands at 96.23 percent.
On January 20, a total of 7022 Covid vaccine doses were administered including 10,28,160 second dose and 11,779 precautionary dose.
Kangpokpi continues to remain at the bottom of the vaccination chart with only 13.64 percent of the eligible population having received the second jab and 20.27 percent the first dose.
Ukhrul is no better off with just 19.27 percent of the eligible population having received the first dose and 26.01 percent the second dose.
In the last 24 hours a total of 131 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 20 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State.
