Covid spread inches to 100 mark with 89 new cases

Even as no tests were conducted in three out of the 16 districts in Manipur-Kamjong, Noney and Tamenglong-the State witnessed yet another day of the gradual rise with 89 samples returning positive results in the last 24 hours.
This is the second day on the trot that Kamjong has not tested anyone.
The 89 positive results were detected while testing 601 samples to peg the daily test positivity ratio at 14.8 percent.
Tengnoupal with just 38.11 percent of its population having received the second dose of the Covid vaccine topped the daily positivity chart with 33.3 percent as one out of the three samples tested turned out to be positive.
Imphal West followed with 25.5 percent TPR as 39 out of 153 samples returned positive results followed by Kakching with 25 percent and Imphal East with 23.9 percent.
All the 18 Covid beds at JNIMS continue to be occupied while out of the 47 Covid beds at RIMS 15 are occupied.
With the addition of 89 more, the number of active cases stands at 385, all drawn from amongst the civilians while on the other hand 24 persons were discharged from home isolation.
The 89 positive cases were detected while testing at RIMS (2), JNIMS (11) and other testing centres (76) .
The 89 persons are drawn from Imphal East (28), Imphal West (39), Thoubal (5), Bishnupur (1), Kakching (7), Senapati (1), Jiribam (2), Tengnoupal (1), Ukhrul (2), Kangpokpi (1), Churachandpur (1) and Chandel (1) .
All necessary precautionary measures including containment and contact tracing are in place, claimed the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
No deaths were reported in the last 24 hours and the tally remains unchanged at 2120.With the addition of 89 more cases, the cumulative number of positive cases in the State has gone up to 1,37,779 including 5014 Central security personnel.
The cumulative number of recovered cases is 1,35,274 with 5007 Central security personnel.
The recovery rate is 98.18 percent.
On July 14, a total of 3027 vaccines were administered taking the total number of jabs to 29,96,068 inclusive of 12,70,179 second dose and 1,24,450 precautionary dose.
62.04 percent of the eligible population have received the first dose of the vaccination shot while 53.46 percent have been fully inoculated (second dose) .
Kangpokpi continues to be at the bottom of the vaccination table with only 17.65 percent of the eligible population having received the second dose.
Kamjong (31.06 pc), Kangpokpi (17.65), Noney (34.83), Pherzawl (39.47 pc), Senapati (31.50 pc), Tamenglong (35.80 pc), Tengnoupal (38.11 pc) and Ukhrul (31.80) continue to make up the bottom end of the vaccination chart with none reaching the 40 percent mark on the second dose count.
On July 14, a total of 99 D Type oxygen cylinders and 19 B Type oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State.
