Second lowest surge in Aug recorded with 522 cases

Imphal, August 13 2021:
For the third time in the month of August, Manipur recorded below 600 new cases with 522 in the last 24 hours.
This is also the second lowest surge in 24 hours in August so far, just above the 467 cases reported on August 9 .
On August 2, 541 new cases were reported.
Significantly for the third day in a row, Manipur recorded the daily positivity rate below 13 percent with 12.9 percent.
On August 10, the daily positivity rate was 12.4 percent while on August 11 it was 12.2 percent.
The State also returned the second lowest number of deaths in the last 24 hours with 8 fatalities.
On August 9 and August 10, the number of deaths was 7, while on August 5, it had returned a similar figure of 8 deaths.
With 8 deaths added, the cumulative figure of deaths due to Covid has risen to 1691 and out of the total eight, 7 persons had comorbidities and 3 of them had received the first dose of the vaccine, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room quoting the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee.
The deceased persons were from Imphal West (1), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (1) and Churachandpur (1) .
The 522 persons who returned positive results included one Central security personnel and their positive status was confirmed at RIMS (63), JNIMS (20), District Hospitals (286) and other testing centres (153) .
The 521 positive cases from amongst the general population are from Imphal East (145), Imphal West (184), Thoubal (24), Bishnupur (70), Kakching (16), Ukhrul (19), Churachandpur (32), Chandel (1), Senapati (4), Tamenglong (13), Tengnoupal (1), Jiribam (4), Noney (3) and Kangpokpi (5) .
Necessary measures including containment and contact tracing are in place, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room in a statement.
Altogether 678 persons were discharged during the last 24 hours, including from home isolation (284), RIMS (19), JNIMS (5), CCCs (179) and CHICs (191) .
With 522 more persons testing positive, the cumulative number of positive cases is now 1,07,229 including 4067 Central security personnel and the number of active cases is 6671 including 46 Central security personnel.
With 678 more persons discharged, the total number of recovered cases is now 98,867 inclusive of 4016 Central security personnel.
The recovery rate has further improved to 92.20 percent.
On August 12, 6167 persons received their vaccination jabs to take the total number of vaccinated people to 14,31,129 including 2,67,355 people who have received their second dose.
