Imphal, March 11 2013:
Out of the total of 2.96 lakh LPG connections in the State, only 89,300 connections have been able to meet the criteria laid down by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) so far.
As part of the ongoing verification process, 12,675 connections have been put under suspension for not submitting necessary documents and having multiple connections, said an official source.
The owners of these suspended connections have not even turned up to collect Know Your Customer (KYC) forms, added the source.
Moreover out of the total 2.96 lakh connections, KYC forms have been issued to around 2 lakh connections.
Out of these two lakh connections, 1,09300 connections have been digitised so far, the source said.
In Misao Gas, which has around 20,000 connections, 550 connections have been put under suspension while Manipur Gas has around 1000 suspended connections out of its 23,000 connections.

In Jemon Gas, which has around 19,000 connections, around 800 connections have been put under suspension while MM Gas has around 1000 suspended connections out of its total 20,000 connections.
Around 600 and 700 connections have been put under suspension in Porompat Gas and K & K Indane Service respectively, the source added.
During the course of the ongoing verification process, Manipur Police Gas has emerged as one of the most problem ridden agencies.
Many connections of this agency are facing the problem of same address, inadequate documents and connections granted on the basis of Riflemen Number.
The source further said that every gas agency of the State still has 1000 to 3000 connections that have sought a change in the name of the consumers.
Process for name change is likely to take long as not more than six to seven connections can be completed per day.
However, IOC has instructed the agencies to start the process for new connections with early completion of the ongoing verification process of existing connections, the source said.
Applicants who already have a connection in their spouse's name would not get a new connection, the source said.
