COVID-19 death toll jumps by seven to take toll to 308
Total positive cases cross 26 thousand mark

The State's COVID-19 death toll jumped by seven to 308 during the last 24 hours though the official figure stands at 306 as the deaths of an army Colonel and a 42-year old man from Imphal West are still not taken into account.
During the last 24 hours, seven persons aged 29 (male, Imphal West), 64 (male, Imphal West), 87 (female, Imphal East), 67 (male, Thoubal), 69 (male, Imphal West), 58 (female, Bishnupur) and 47 (male, Imphal East) expired at Shija Hospital, Raj Medicity, RIMS and JNIMS.
Meanwhile, a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang informed that 216 people including 26 personnel of CAPF were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Imphal West, Shija Hospital, Christian Hospital, Jivan Hospital, Advance Hospital, Nazareth Hospital, Raj Medicity, RD Wing, Escent Diagnostics, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching, Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Noney, Kamjong and Babina Diagnostics.
The 190 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (77), Imphal East (47), Thoubal (7), Bishnupur (7), Kakching (25), Ukhrul (1), Tamenglong (11), Tengnoupal (4), Kangpokpi (2), Kamjong (2), Churachandpur (3) and Noney (4) .
All of them are locals who do not have any significant history of travelling outside the State.
On the other hand, 193 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (2), home isolation (130), RIMS (7), JNIMS (5), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (9), Lanva (3), CCC UNACCO (7), RD Wing (4), Raj Medicity (1), Bal Bhavan (10), Thoubal (9), Bishnupur (4) and Kangpokpi (2) .
The cumulative number of positive cases is 26,073 (general population 22,892 and Central security personnel 3,181) .
It includes 2,919 active cases (general population 2,657 and Central security personnel 262) and 22,848 discharged cases (general population 19,933 and Central security personnel 2,915).The recovery rate as on Sunday has improved to 87.63 per cent.
A late report informed that out of 202 samples tested today at JNIMS, 52 were found positive.
