Total tally now stands at 3018 : Another 63 with no travel history test positive

As many as 143 persons with no significant travel history have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 in the last 48 hours.
While 80 of them tested positive yesterday, 63 tested positive today, according to reports of the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The COVID-19 Common Control Room today reported detection of 98 cases including 64 from the general population and 34 personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .
The total number of cases now stands at 3018 .
The number of active cases is 1197 while the number of recovered cases has reached 1814 .

The death toll is 7 and the recovery rate at present is 60.10 per cent.
The 64 cases (detected from the general population) include 39 males and 25 females.
Except for a case from Tamenglong district, the remaining 63 cases have no significant travel history.
The 63 persons hail from Imphal West (25 persons), Thoubal (23), Imphal East (8), Chandel (5) and Kakching (2) .
They are being shifted to COVID-19 Care Centres.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing have been initiated.
There is no COVID-19 related death from any part of the State today, said the report of the COVID control room.
On the other hand, 48 persons were discharged after recovery from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
They were discharged from JNIMS (4 persons), COVID-19 care Centres of Meitram (8), Senapati (4), Tamenglong (3), RD Wing (12) and Jiribam AR (17), said the report today.
Meanwhile, sources reported that 25 persons have tested COVID-19 positive at JNIMS today while 21 tested positive at Jiribam.
Another 18 security personnel including 14 Assam Rifles personnel and 4 are CRPF personnel stationed at Langjing were also tested positive.
So far, 621 samples of 1st MR, 8 MR personnel and family members stationed at their respective area HQs have been tested and 103 have been found COVID positive, said sources.
Commenting on the rising number of cases among security personnel, DGP LM Khaute stated that testing of the security personnel will be enhanced to contain the spread of the disease.
There has been a spike in the number of cases among the civil police, MR, IRB and other Central security forces.
Even though the security personnel are following the COVID-19 SOPs, there is always risk of contracting the virus.
As civil police deal directly with people while maintaining law and order and enforcing lockdown and curfew, chances of them contracting the virus is high, he said while speaking to The Sangai Express.
Besides enhancing testing, the police personnel will be given the required training on sample collection and handling of COVID-19 related operations, he added.
He lauded the police, other security forces and all frontline workers for their dedication and efforts in fighting COVID-19 pandemic.
