One more succumbs, death toll rises to 29

Whereas a 55-year old woman died of COVID-19 at RIMS last night taking the death toll to 29, 130 people were found infected by the virus during the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile the Babupara quarters of ex-Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has been declared a containment zone after two MR personnel who have been serving as his security escorts tested positive for the contagion.
Sources informed that a 55-year old woman from Lilong, Thoubal district was brought to RIMS casualty ward on August 21 as she was suffering from cough and breathing difficulty.
As she was tested positive for COVID-19, she was shifted to the COVID ward.
The woman who was said to be having heart and kidney problems too died at the hospital at around 6.30 pm yesterday.
So far, 29 people have died due to COVID-19 and co-morbid health conditions and the victims included six residents of Thoubal district.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 130 people including three personnel of CAPF were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Raj Medicity, Ukhrul, Thoubal, Shija Hospital, Babina Diagnostic Centre, Kangpokpi, Imphal West, Jiribam, Chura-chandpur, Bishnupur, Imphal East and Tamenglong.
Of the 127 civilians who have been found infected by the contagion, 60 belong to Imphal West, five to Imphal East, 22 to Thoubal, two to Ukhrul, seven to Bishnupur, six to Churachandpur, two to Senapati, two to Kangpokpi, 14 to Tamenglong and six to Jiribam.
Out of them, 125 have no significant history of travelling outside the State.
Meanwhile, 120 people have been discharged from CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (38), UNACCO (14), Kakching (2), RD Wing (2), Ukhrul (1), Senapati (2), Noney (5) and Tamenglong (2) during the last 24 hours after they were found COVID-19 free.
Till date, the total tally of COVID-19 positive cases in the State is 6382 (general public 4782, Central security personnel 1600) .
The total figure includes 1903 active cases (general public 1189, Central security personnel 714) and 4450 discharged cases (general public 3566, Central security personnel 884).The recovery rate as on Tuesday is 69.72 per cent.
Meanwhile, an awareness campaign on the contagion was carried out today in Imphal West district covering Sayang Road, Sega Road Thokchom Leikai, Hodam Leirak, Takhel Leikai, Khagempalli, Elangbam Leikai, Yaiskul, Keishampat, Thangmeiband, Nagamapal and Sagolband Meino Leirak.
Meanwhile, 32 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 on RAT (Rapid Antigen Test) in Imphal West today.
They include 11 from Khoyathong Polem Leikai and 6 from Yaiskul.
Six persons have also tested positive for the virus in Thoubal district on RAT.
As many as 352 samples were tested at JNIMS and 3 have tested positive for COVID-19, said sources.
