No new Covid deaths in state since March 18

Imphal, May 11 2022: As the state is witnessing decreasing impact of Covid 19 with the second wave of the pandemic ending in second week of March this year, the state has not witnessed a single Covid-19 death case for almost two months since March 18.The last time the state reported Covid related death was on March 17 when government bulletins reported two Covid fatalities.

Though infection rate was high in the second wave, the death toll started to fall gradually in the last part of last year and December 2021 recorded only 25 death cases.

After the death toll picked up in January and February, which recorded 44 and 66 deaths respectively, it subsided significantly in March by recording only eight death cases.

April and May have not reported any Covid-19 related casualties.

Number of new positive cases also dropped significantly from March as the month reported 311 new cases whereas April recorded only 126 new cases.

The current month has reported only seven fresh cases till date.

Meanwhile, Wednesday reported no new fresh cases though 109 samples were tested at different testing centres.

No death cases were reported in the last 24 hours and the toll stands at 2120 .

Till date, the virus has claimed lives of 194 vaccinated people of which 61 had received second doses of Covid vaccine.

No patients were discharged in the last 24 hours and number of active cases remains at 7 out of which 2 (28.57 per cent) are in home isolation.

So far, the state has recorded 11,439 pos itive cases and 118 fatalities since the be ginning of the third wave of the pandemic.

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,37,227 (general population - 1,32,213 and CAPF personnel - 5,014) .

Number of recovered cases is 1,35,100 (general population - 1,30,093 and CAPF personnel - 5,007) and number of active cases is 7 (general population) .

The recovery rate stands at 98.45 per cent.

A total of 156 D-type and 12 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours and 1656 vaccine doses administered on Tuesday which took the cumulative number of vaccinated population to 15,61,222, out of which 12,11,785 had received second doses and 89,154 had taken precautionary doses.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 44,224 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 30,681 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 5,19,164 tests per million population against the national average of 5,99,226 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent and the cumulative positivity at 8.52 per cent.
