Imphal, July 19 2019:
Lok Sabha MP Dr RK Ranjan yesterday stated on the floor of the Lok Sabha that Manipur has lost 2201 sq Kms of land since the State was merged into the Indian Union.
Praying to Nongda Lairen Pakhangba and conveying deep respect to the people of Manipur, Dr Ranjan raised the issue of the State's shrinking territory.

Pointing out that Manipur was once an independent kingdom, Dr Ranjan said that the responsibility of protecting the State's territory passed to the Government of India after Manipur merged with the Indian Union on October 15, 1949 .
He urged the Central Government to review the boundary demarcation carried out between India and Myanmar in 1975 adding that such a review would definitely win appreciation from the people of Manipur.
He further pointed out that the people of Manipur have been aggrieved as the State's international boundary has not been properly settled yet and it is alienating the people from India.
