AR recovers large quantities of drugs

Imphal, July 19 2019:
Assam Rifles battalions have seized contraband items and Indian made foreign liquor worth more than Rs 21 lakh in different operations conducted between 13 and 17 Jul in States of Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and Tripura, said AR in a statement today.
On 13 July, based on specific input regarding smuggling of contrabands, a team of Assam Rifles and Moreh Police seized 3,360 World is Yours tablets worth more than Rs 10 lakh from a Myanmar National identified as Wonna (44), near H Lhangcham village near Moreh.
On 15 July, a spot check of vehicles by AR team led to the recovery of 1,397 bottles of IMFL from Tuli village in Mokokchung district, Nagaland.
In the intervening period large quantity of contraband items including heroin and ganja were also recovered by AR units in Mizoram and Tripura, said IGAR (S) .
All apprehended persons and recovered items have been handed over to State Excise Department and police for further investigations, said AR.
