Imphal, December 13 2013 : In its ongoing efforts towards developing and strengthening relationship with the populace of Manipur and also to promote sports in the State, 40 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) would be organising an Archery Championship for men at Assam Rifles Archery Range on 14 and 15 Dec 2013.The competition will be conducted in three categories, Indian round, Recurve and compound Division.

The event will conclude on 15 Dec 2013 along with prize distribution ceremony, according to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S) .

The statement said that Archery is the traditional game of Manipur and the State has produced renowned players in the game.

The event will go long way in not only drawing out Archery talent from Manipur and promote the spirit of the game by giving exposure to the archers but also bring the security force closer to the civil populace in order to foster better relation and to create an environment conducive for peace and tranquillity in the State.
