Attack on ex-CM convoy : Three remanded to judicial custody

Imphal, October 06 2026:
Three accused persons arrested recently in connection with the ambush on the convoy of then Chief Minister N Biren Singh on June 10, 2024, along the Imphal-Jiribam road at K Sinam village in Kangpokpi district, have been remanded to judicial custody till October 30, today.
The three accused were produced before the Special Court, NIA, Manipur, through video conferencing from New Delhi after completion of their police custody period.
The accused persons are Jaggoulen Khongsai alias Goulen Khongsai (21), son of Songhen Khongsai of Gelmol, Churachandpur, presently staying at Veitum Kholen village, Kangpokpi district; Jangminlun Singson alias Franky (44), son of Lamgin of Bethel, Churachandpur; and Thangjoel Haokip alias Thangboi (21), son of Ngamkholun Haokip of Gamphajang under Tuibong subdivision, Churachandpur district.
After hearing the submissions of the Special Public Prosecutor for the NIA and perusing the case record, the Court remanded the three accused to judicial custody till October 30 to facilitate further investigation.
Jangminlun Singson and Thangjoel Haokip were earlier produced before the same Court on September 29, while Jaggoulen Khongsai was produced on October 1 .
They were subsequently remanded to NIA custody till October 6 and taken to Delhi by an NIA team from Imphal.
