Imphal, October 06 2026:
Kanglei Meeyamgi Etinpham (KME) has demanded that the Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement signed between Government of India, State Government and Kuki militant groups should not be extended.
Addressing media at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul today, KME spokesperson L Munindro said SoO was first signed between Assam Rifles and Kuki militant groups in 2005 and a tripartite agreement with Centre and State Government started in 2008 .
He alleged Kuki militants were not waging war against India nor attacking security forces but were highwaymen extorting on National Highways.
He charged that the Central Government gave them shelter, money and arms to create unrest in Myanmar and to suppress insurgent groups in the North-East region of that country.
However, as they have now turned their guns against indigenous people of Manipur, SoO should not be extended, he said.
