Imphal, September 22 2016:
Liangmai Football Club debuted into football world by entering the final of the 2nd edition of Captain Late Kenguruse Memorial football tournament, a State level tournament at Kohima local ground, Nagaland, organized by 9 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) .
Although LFC suffered a 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Naga FC another top club of Nagaland in the final, reaching the final has certainly put LFC on track.
Notwithstanding their lose in the final, Liangmai FC proved their mettle that they are a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming NSF Martyrs Memorial Trophy and other major football tournament in Nagaland and other Northeast States.
"We believe the journey will not end from here and pray to see our Liangmai FC scaling the height in football world starting," said Khuibangdbo Chawang, a key LSA member.
Football loving fans also urged Nagaland Football Association to develop and transform Kohima local ground into an Artificial Turf (sanctioned by FIFA ) in order to promote football in Nagaland.
The current situation is like football is played on clay/sand ground and sometime on ground filled with Grass like the game format of lawn tennis; such condition of the ground will hamper the growth of football and make players prone to injuries.
