With conclusion of the league stage of the 3rd edition of Lt Col Robert Cup, quarter finals of the football tournament began from Monday with the first played between Hills United FC and Taphou FC at Astro Turf Ground, Senapati.
Taphou FC entered the semi-final by defeating Hills United FC by 4-3 goals while United Brothers FC defeated FC Katumsiim by 9-0 in the second quarter final match to advance to the last four stage.
The prestigious football tournament named in honour of military officer Lt Col (late) Robert not only celebrates sports but also serves as a platform to promote unity and camaraderie across communities within Senapati district.
Lt Col Robert, a distinguished son of Senapati, was bom on January 24, 1981 at Maram Centre.
His journey from humble beginning to becoming the first officer from the Maram tribe to attain the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in Indian Army is a testament of hard work, commitment and service to the community.
