U-12 AITA Super Series : Ashwajit sets up semifinal clash with Manan Nath

Imphal, May 23 2018: Local lad, Ashwajit Senjam defeated Mahalingam Kandheval 7-6 (5), 5-7, 6-1 in a quarter final match to seal the boys' singles semifinal berth of the ongoing National Ranking AITA Super Series for Under-12 Boys and Girls organised under the aegis of All India Tennis Association and Manipur Tennis Association at Imphal District Tennis Association Complex, Lamphel while Neeraj Thokchom crashed out of the tournament with a 4-6, 2-6 loss to Manan Nath in another quarter final clash today.

Ashwajit Senjam will meet Manan Nath in a semi-final match tomorrow.

Day 3 Round Up .

Boys' singles : Harsh Phogat today secured a dominating 6-0, 6-0 win over Dhruv Sachdeva to storm into the semifinals of the boys' singles competition while Anirudh Nallaparaju got better of Venkat Batlanki by 3-1 sets (7-5, 3-6, 6-4) to set up semifinal clash with Harsh Phogat.

Boys' Doubles : In the boys' doubles competition, local pair Gavin Wahengbam and Neeraj Thokchom had a dismal day as they crash out of the tournament with a 3-6, 3-6 loss to Siddhanth Sharma and Dhruv Sachdeva in a quarterfinal clash today.

In another quarter final clash, Harsh Phogat and Manan Nath beat Dreek Saha and Krish Tyagi 6-1, 6-1 to made themselves into semis while Venkat Batlanki and Rurik Rajni defeated Antariksh Tamuli and Aryan Bora 6-4, 6-4 to book the semifinal berth.

Akansh Subramanian and Akshaj Subramanian also moved into semis with an overwhelming 6-0, 6-1 win over Mahalingam Kandhavel and Anirudh Nallaparaju.

In the first semi-final staged today, Harsh Phogat and Manan Nath put off a spirited challenged from Venkat Batlanki and Rurik Rajni with a 6-4, 6-2 win to book the final berth while the last semi-final match, Mahalingam Kandhavel and Anirudh Nallaparaju edged out Siddhanth Sharma and Dhruv Sachdeva 4-6, 6-2, 10-6 to set up summit clash with Harsh Phogat and Manan Nath.

Girls' Singles: Durganshi outclassed Priyanka Rana 6-2, 6-1 in the first quarter final match for girls singles competition to set up semifinal clash Sohini Sanj Mohanty who thrashed Divya Ungrish 6-0, 6-1 today in another quarterfinal clash.

Kanumuri Ikaraju had a huge 6-0, 6-0 win over Samiksha Dabas in another last 8 round clash to set up semifinal clash with Laxmi Bogala who edged out Poka Ridhi 7-6 (6), 2-6, 6-4 today in the last quarter final match of the day.

Girls' Doubles : Ridhi Poka and Durganshi is all set to meet Laxmi Bogala and Ikaraju Kanumuri in the final of the girls' double competition.

Ridhi Poka and Durganshi today defeated Murthy Anjana and Samiksha Dabas 6-2, 6-2 in the first semifinal while Laxmi Bogala and Ikaraju Kanumuri had a 6-2, 6-3 win over Sohini Mohanty and Divya Ungrish in the last semi-final.

Earlier, Poka and Durganshi beat Sreenidhi Balaji and Agnimitra Bhattacharya 6-0, 6-1 to cruise into the semifinals while Murthy Anjana and Samiksha Dabas saw off Kavyashree JA and Snigdha Patibandla 6-1, 6-3 to enter the semifinals.

In another quarter final match, Bogala and Kanumuri beat Sumeira Jaishwal and Saijayani Banerjee 6-1, 6-3 to make into the semis while Sohini Mohanty and Divya Ungrish saw off Vamika Sharma and Nemha Sara Kispotta 6-4, 6-3 to enter into semis.
