Imphal, January 23 2024: Four State boxers boxed their way into the finals in the ongoing 6th Khelo India Youth Games as the boys epee team bagged a gold medal in the fencing competition.

The fifth day of the games hosted in Tamil Nadu saw four boxers- Elangbam Thoicha (48 kg), Thokchom Supriya (54 kg), Mayengbam Henthoi (60 kg) and Leichombam Lamnganba (54 kg) seal semi-final victories to confirm final berths.

Chinglemba Moirangthem however settled for a bronze medal in the boys 63 kg category competition as he went down to Gaurav Chauhan of Maharashtra in a semi-final bout.

Elangbam Thoicha defeated Sri Varshitha Kollusu of Andhra Pradesh 5-0 in a one sided encounter as Thokchom Supriya overwhelmed Muskan of Haryana 5-0.Mayengbam Henthoi in the meantime sealed an RSC win in the third round against Abhishek of Haryana after Leichombam Lamnganba defeated Rohit Chamoli of Chandigarh 4-3 .

Fencing : After K Abhinash won a gold medal in the individual foil event and T Mangalleibi bagged a silver medal in the individual sabre event, State boys epee team comprising Sh Jenith, K Ramakanta, Droni and W Nikash added another gold medal to the fencing tally .

Gymnastics: Oinam Bandana Devi extended Manipur's medal haul in the games by sealing a silver medal in the vaulting table competition today.

The gymnastics team are led by RK Bijaychandra as coach.
