Poumai Naga cultural day of PNTM meet held

Poumai Naga Cultural Day of the 23rd PNTM Tournament, 2024 was held on Monday at Tungjoy village and it was attended by Karong MLA J Kumo Sha as chief host and Naga Students' Federation president Medovi Rhi as functional president.
Addressing gathering at the event, MLA J Kumo Sha said that a community's strength lies in unity, togetherness and preservation of culture and identity.
Accordingly, Poumai community should retrospect the past and wake up from slumber to strengthen unity.
While stressing the need to preserve culture, MLA Kumo Sha said that it is important to teach mother tongue to every child to preserve one's culture.
The MLA also said that an alternate NH will be developed by connecting through NH-102A with fund from the ministry of road transport.
He then urged participants of the tournament to learn something beneficial for oneself and spread the message to neighbours for the good of all.
Nagaland state tourism and higher education minister Temjen Imna Along also attended the event as honoured guest and extended New Year greetings.
He said that nurturing talents among the youth is the need of the hour as they are the future of the society.
The Nagas across the world may be divided by geographical lines made by men but their hearts remain close and dear to all, he added.
The event was marked with traditional war like game displayed by the host village (Tungjoy).
The game was engaged between two opponent groups using spear-like stem of the wild juicy plats.
The game brought back memories of the past head hunting period.
Indigenous Naga wrestling competitions followed in the evening.
