Cancer awareness, detection camp held

Karkinos Manipur Cancer Institute and Re search Centre, in collaboration with Thongju Part II Gram Panchayat and Seva Club organised a community awareness and early detection programme of Cancer to mark World Cervical Cancer Awareness Month' at Thongju Part II on Tuesday.
The Programme encompassed various activities, such as awareness session, general health check up, risk assessment, HPV vaccination, and screening for six major forms of cancer, namely Oral, Breast, Cervical, Lungs, Prostate, and Colorectal.
Numerous individuals, including women of Thongju Part II-area, actively participated in the camp organised to create awareness regarding cancer care, stress the importance of regular health check-ups, promote early detection of cancer, and emphasise preventive measures among the community.
Dr Thingujam James, a consultant Gynae-Oncol-ogist at Karkinos Centre, underscored the significance of early detection and HPV vaccination in preventing cervical cancer.
He also explained on causes and symptoms of cervical cancer, and urged the people to take precautionary measures.
The programme was organised under the supervision Karkinos centre team comprising Dr K Rajo (HoD, Anaesthesiology), Dr Thingujam James (Consultant, Gynae-Oncologist), Dr RK Gautamjit (Consultant, Head and Neck Oncosurgery), W Imo (operations manager), RMOs, and nurses.
