Imphal, October 06 2025:
Defending Champions Manipur extended their final round winning way in the 30th Senior Women's National Football Championship for Rajmata Jijabai Trophy 2025-26 with 6-0 rout of Assam at Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Ground in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh this morning.
Having crushed Haryana 3-0 in the Group B final round opening match courtesy of a double from Dangmei Grace, Manipur sealed the dominating win thanks to Serto Lynda Kom's treble today.
Manipur took 21 minutes to open the scoring courtesy of S Lynda Kom who stunned the Assamese custodian Haripriya Deka with a lofted shot from outside the box.

Manipur took full command of the game dominating the possession and looking relentlessly for the gaps.
As the game advanced towards the break, Lynda Kom was at the target again as she nodded home a beautiful cross from Phanjoubam Nirmala Devi from outside the right edge of the box to double the advantage after 41 minutes.
Manipur further cemented their lead when Khumukcham Bhumika Devi rushed into the box to capitalise on a defensive lapse and leave Haripriya, whose clearance mistakenly hit defender Rupali Boro, stunned yet again with a low but a drilling shot in the final minute of the first half.
After conceding three goals in the opening half, Assam managed to thwart a string of attacks from Manipuri players for a major portion of the second half until the defence wore out and Dangmei Grace, who starred in the final round opener, made it 4-0 after 82 minutes.
It was Haripriya's mistake once again as she sent the ball straight to Dangmei who was lurking around the box, responding to a backpass and Dangmei intercepted the ball with ease and slotted home the ball with a curling shot.
Manipur further swelled the scoreline when Lynda Kom volleyed home the fifth goal after 84 minutes by beating the frantically onrushing Assamese custodian.
Manipur goalkeeper Elangbam Panthoi launched the attack with a long shot from the other half and Oinam Babita leaped into the air to connect the ball that went to Lynda Kom, who then produced a measured volley.
The final goal came from Oinam Babita, who subbed in for Kayenpaibam Anju Chanu after 70 minutes, as she cracked a thunderous shot to seal the 6-0 win deep 7 minutes into the added time following a melee around the box.
Manipur will play Punjab in the next match on October 8 .
